Blue Monday Quiz Night – Mind Fundraiser

Social Isolation is a way to bring some games, laughter and friends to your living room, while raising money for amazing causes.

Join us on, technically, the most depressing day of the year (the last Monday in January before payday) for our fun filled, blues forgetting quiz!

We’re doing the quiz for 2 reasons. Firstly, I want to bring some much needed January joy to you all! Secondly, I want to raise as much money as I can for the charity Mind (https://www.mind.org.uk). However; I know times are very tough for many people, so if you cannot afford to donate, PLEASE STILL COME! This is just as much about spreading joy as it is about raising money.

Other than the £10 it costs me to put on the quiz, 100% of the donations will be going to Mind, so please give generously.

To sign up to play, please donate to the below PayPal pot (if you can) and then email enjoysocialisolation@gmail.com to let us know you have and so I have your email address. I will email you the details on how to join the quiz a few days before the event.

From Queen Nzingha to Shirley Chisholm (Nzingha 105) – live on Zoom

Black History Walks offer guided Walking Tours London to include the African history of London however during lockdown they will be hosting online events.

From the invasion of Africa into the Colonial period and the Civil Rights Movement. From 1619 to 1969 the Black Woman’s power is revealed.

She Took Justice: The Black Woman, Law, and Power – 1619 to 1969 proves that The Black Woman liberated herself. Readers go on a journey from the invasion of Africa into the Colonial period and the Civil Rights Movement. The Black Woman reveals power, from Queen Nzingha to Shirley Chisholm.

In She Took Justice, we see centuries of courage in the face of racial prejudice and gender oppression. We gain insight into American history through The Black Woman’s fight against race laws, especially criminal injustice. She became an organizer, leader, activist, lawyer, and judge – a fighter in her own advancement.

These engaging true stories show that, for most of American history, the law was an enemy to The Black Woman. Using perseverance, tenacity, intelligence, and faith, she turned the law into a weapon to combat discrimination, a prestigious occupation, and a platform from which she could lift others as she rose. This is a book for every reader.

This is an online conversation with Professor Gloria J. Browne-Marshall author of She Got Justice.
