Game Design: Summer Term – live on Zoom

We run robotics and coding classes, camps and clubs in the UK, for children aged 7 and above. Our goal at Code Kids is to make computer science hands-on, fun, relevant and educational.

Our Game Design course teaches you how to think like a professional game creator. Children learn to use popular game making engines to create thrilling 2-D games. We also cover techniques such as graphic design, adding game behaviours, creating game maps, and using asset packs (reusing game objects created by other students). We also show children how to play games responsibly, and how to successfully publish games online.

All of our courses must be booked in advance.

You can find out more on the event page.

Date: Wednesday and Thursdays until Thursday 2nd July
(during half term break there will be no sessions: Monday 25th May to Sunday 31st May).
Times:
Wednesdays – 3:00pm to 4:00pm
Thursdays – 4:15pm to 5:15pm

Python 1 Coding: Summer Term – live on Zoom

We run robotics and coding classes, camps and clubs in the UK, for children aged 7 and above. Our goal at Code Kids is to make computer science hands-on, fun, relevant and educational.

The Python Level 1 course is designed for late primary to secondary aged students who are looking to learn to code using a proper “grown-up” programming language. All of our courses must be booked in advance.

Students will learn to code in Python and create fun games and useful applications. Python is particularly suitable for this age group because it is concise, easy to read and has multiple applications in the real world (web development, app development and other scientific uses such as data science). It is the most popular programming language in the world and is widely used by all the leading tech companies such as Google, Amazon and Facebook.

This class is a great introduction to both fundamental coding concepts and the Python programming language. After this course, students will be comfortable coding in Python and have the confidence to extend their knowledge at home.

You can find out more on the event page.

Date: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays until Saturday 4th July
(during half term break there will be no sessions: Monday 25th May to Sunday 31st May).
Times:
Mondays – 6:45pm to 7:45pm
Wednesdays – 4:15pm to 5:15pm
Thursdays – 5:30pm to 6:30pm
Saturdays – 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Data Science with Python: Summer Term – live on Zoom

We run robotics and coding classes, camps and clubs in the UK, for children aged 7 and above. Our goal at Code Kids is to make computer science hands-on, fun, relevant and educational.

This Python-based course is designed for confident coders aged 12 or over, looking to apply their programming knowledge to data science and machine learning. All of our courses must be booked in advance.

Students will be introduced to Interactive Python Notebooks, a tool used by professionals to write and present their code.

We will then look at the “Pandas” library, a useful tool that allows us easily to describe and manipulate large amounts of data. Throughout the course, we will be examining real life data sets, including modelling the recent COVID-19 pandemic!

We will then learn how to visualise our data by plotting graphs and spotting trends in the dataset. We’ll cover more useful libraries to add to our Data Science arsenal.

Finally, we will get a brief introduction to machine learning, the process of letting a computer recognise patterns and make predictions. In our case, this means recognising images that we give to it!

You can find out more on the event page.

Date: Thursdays and Saturdays until Saturday 4th July
(during half term break there will be no sessions: Monday 25th May to Sunday 31st May).
Times:
Thursdays – 6:45pm to 7:45pm
Saturdays – 3:45pm to 4:45pm

Minecraft Coding: Summer Term – live on Zoom

We run robotics and coding classes, camps and clubs in the UK, for children aged 7 and above. Our goal at Code Kids is to make computer science hands-on, fun, relevant and educational.

Don’t just let your children play Minecraft, get them coding with it! In this Online Summer Term Class, children will be taught to code using Minecraft, in a fun learning environment. All of our courses must be booked in advance.

We will be running two types of Minecraft coding courses; one that is aimed at younger children (7+) and the other for older children (9+). The Saturday courses are suitable for 7 to 12 year olds as we will have multiple class streams that cater to different abilities and age.

You can find out more on the event page.
